Ein Deutsches Requiem by Johannes Brahms
The third of the three “Bs” of Classical Music (Bach and Beethoven being the former), Johannes Brahms may have composed his German Requiem to help him cope with the loss of his mother and composer friend, Robert Schumann. But unlike Mozart’s liturgical Requiem sung in Latin, Brahms’ German Requiem breaks from that tradition and is sung in…German! And if you’re new to the whole “requiem thing,” you’re in for an evening length treat! Join us to hear the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts Orchestra accompany the Vocal Department Concert Choir (and Artist in Residence professional soloists) in some of Brahms’ most moving, heartfelt, and passionate music.

This evening of jazz pays tribute to traditional jazz classics with a modern twist: think inside and outside the box! Join the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts Contemporary Instrumental Music Department for their first concert of the year, featuring the Ruth Asawa Big Band and supporting jazz combos.

America WRITE Now marks the Spoken Arts students' first performance at the DKMT Theater, featuring a collection of poems, songs, and raps that capture the current pulse of our nation. With a focus on both the blues and the joys, these young artists will share their reflections on life in America today, bringing their passion and creativity to the stage in a bold, thought-provoking production making this an unforgettable celebration of their voices.
